The 'O'Briens of Glencush' Family Reunion which took place August 2000 in The Glen of Aherlow was a great success.  Descendants of Patrick and Bridget O'Brien of Glencushabinna, Aherlow , Co Tipperary came from far and wide to participate in the week long programme.

The opening event was a dinner/dance at the Aherlow House Hotel which was attended by over 200 people including 70 from the UK and USA..

Highlight of the week was the open day at the old family farmhouse at Glencushabinna hosted by Pat and Joan O'Brien and attended by over 100 people. The weather was kind and Fr Joe O'Brien  celebrated mass  in the farmyard.

Lisvernane village hall was full for the family history evening with displays of the O'Brien family tree and old family photos and talks on the history of Aherlow and the Denis O'Brien CDs.

The guided climb of Galtymore went off without a hitch.. The party of 24 reached the summit and were rewarded with fine views of the Glen of Aherlow and beyond.

The fun event was the soccer match between the Aherlow O'Briens and the Visitors which was won by the home team after a penalty shoot out. The match was followed by a barbecue at the Caravansary Bar.

Other events included family walks and outings, an evening of Irish music and dance at Tig Roy, Galbally, a golf match and a trip to Bunratty Folk Park.

On the last night  Moroneys Bar, Lisvernane was packed for the farewell party which went on to the early hours.
